As newbs to the camping world we were still learning the ins and outs of RV camping when we booked Tyler State Park in July 2020. We were lucky to get a lakeside campsite on a weekend. Tyler State Park has something to offer anyone who loves the outdoors.
Tyler State Park is located in east Texas about 90 minutes east of Dallas, Texas. This state park is renowned for rolling hills and tall pine trees. A visit to Tyler State Park will offer you the opportunity to enjoy beautiful east Texas!
Tyler State Park offers 57 full hookup sites ranging from lakeside to in the pines. You will also find 20 campsites with electricity and water and 30 campsites with water only. During our stay at we were in site LV 203. It was a lakeview site with full hookups. The site was level, paved, and on the lake. My only complaint about our site was the Lakeshore hiking trail goes around the lake and through all the lakeside sites. There were people walking too close to our camper for my taste during our entire stay. I prefer a little more privacy when I camp. For this reason, I would probably reserve one of the sites across the street from the lake sites to avoid random people walking into my campsite.
Verizon cell service and OTA television reception was weak. The park headquarters has free wi-fi and cell service improves there too.

If camping in a travel trailer or tent is not in the cards for you, Tyler State Park offers 29 screened shelters. There are also 6 cabins with air conditioning for your visit.
A visit to Tyler State Park offers a wide range of activities including:
3 fishing piers and a boat dock. if you don’t have your own boat, you can rent one at the park store.
Beautiful scenery year-round.
I highly recommend purchasing the Texas State Parks annual pass if you plan to camp more than two times during the year. The discounts for camping and day use fees will pay for themselves after your second trip.
Now that you know more about Tyler State Park, go! Get out there and see it for yourself! You will not be disappointed.
Wherever your travels take you, may God bless you each mile of your journey.
